2025 October Board Meeting Recap

The Cannon Township Board held two meetings this month on October 13 and October 27, 2025 covering a few key updates and community items.

We had tech issues on the 27th, but you can still hear the meeting here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVLbE4VWU3E

Meeting Highlights:

  • Speed Sign on M-44: The Board approved and later revised a resolution to install a digital speed sign near Rockford Christian School to enhance safety along M-44. Here’s the thing, being a Township we don’t have control of all our roads and M-44 is an example of a road that is controlled by MDOT. We have to do what MDOT wants on the roads or if we put something up without their blessing, they will just take it down. (Fun things you learn as a Trustee!)

  • Balk Family Park: Received updates on the Andrus Architecture project and ongoing planning progress.

  • Trail Etiquette: Trustee Olson shared recommendations to encourage safe and courteous trail use for all visitors.

  • Public Safety: Chief Morris presented a new hire for the Fire Department and recognized local partners with check presentations for Riding for Ryan and Great Lakes Burn Camp.

  • Community Partnerships: Approved a Camp Roger resolution supporting charitable gaming licenses to assist fundraising efforts.

  • Trail Along

Both meetings focused on operational updates, safety initiatives, and continued community collaboration.
