Cannon Township Fire Department Pancake Breakfast Draws Fantastic Turnout
Cannon Township’s annual Fire Department Pancake Breakfast once again brought neighbors, families and first responders together for a great morning at Fire Station No. 2.
The event saw a fantastic turnout, with residents stopping by for pancakes, conversation and a chance to spend time with the firefighters and emergency personnel who serve the community.
“The Pancake Breakfast is one of those mornings we look forward to every year because it gives our crew a chance to spend time with the community in a completely different setting,” said Cannon Township Fire Chief Jim Morris. “We get to cook breakfast, visit with families, show kids the trucks and, at the same time, raise money for two organizations doing really meaningful work. It’s a great reflection of the community we’re fortunate to serve.”
A big thank-you goes to this year’s sponsors: Flying W Ranch, The Tilted Tulip, Fire Department Coffee and BIGGBY Coffee.
The Fire Department was also joined by fellow first responders from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, Rockford Ambulance Service and Nelson’s Towing. Their vehicles and crews gave families an up-close look at the people and equipment that help keep our community safe throughout the year.
Local Scouts were also a huge help throughout the morning, pitching in wherever they were needed and helping keep the breakfast running smoothly.
“We are incredibly proud of the Cannon Township Fire Department,” said Township Supervisor Steve Grimm. “They are highly trained professionals who are there for our residents on some of their most difficult days, but events like the Pancake Breakfast also show another side of who they are. They care deeply about this community, they give back and they genuinely enjoy building relationships with the people they serve. Cannon Township is very fortunate to have this team.”
Proceeds from the event support two organizations especially meaningful to the department: Riding for Ryan, which promotes bicycle safety for children, and Great Lakes Burn Camp, which provides camp experiences and support for children who have experienced burn injuries.
The donations are still being tallied, but if there’s one thing we know about Cannon Township, it’s that our community knows how to give back!
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out, donated and spent part of their Saturday morning with us. The Pancake Breakfast continues to be one of those special Cannon Township traditions that brings generations together while supporting two very deserving causes.
We are incredibly grateful for our Fire Department, community partners, sponsors, Scouts, volunteers and residents who helped make this year’s event such a success.
