Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself: A Hello from Your Trustee

Happy New Year! We’re back in the full swing of things, and I thought I’d take a moment to reintroduce myself.

My name is Jessica, commonly called Jes (yes, just one “S.” I like to be efficient and a little different!). I have three boys, ages 11, 9, and 4, and a wonderful husband, Jake, and we’ve been married for 13 years. I grew up in Cannon, boomeranged to Florida for about a decade, and have been back in my childhood summer home since 2014.

I was elected as your Trustee in 2024, but had the privilege of being appointed nine months prior. I truly love our community. Cannon Township is run like a well-oiled machine, and each Board member divides and conquers to keep things moving efficiently.

What sets me apart? I believe strongly in fiscal responsibility and planning for not just five years out, but five generations. You won’t see me jumping on trends (unless it’s for my personal social media) I like data and making the long-term maintenance plan. I’m the only woman on the Board, and I may also be the only thirty-something—at least for a little while longer. I’ll be 39 on March 25.

My passion is understanding how things work, whether in business, government, nonprofits, or among residents, and then connecting the dots so we can work together better and be more efficient. You’ll see me supporting businesses that come to the area, showing up at community events, and even organizing a few of my own for causes I care deeply about. I am fortunate to be a part of my family’s business Swift Printing. I am Third Generation and the first female President. I lead alongside my brother Walt III, who just happens to be my best friend.

For fun, I enjoy singing with the Bridge Street Band, collecting guitars, thrifting, spending time with my kids, waterskiing and barefooting, and enjoying a great meal out on the town (on Bridge Street) with Mr. Slaydon.

It’s truly an honor to serve you. I believe it’s not only my duty to serve our residents, but also, as a representative of our democracy, it’s my responsibility to keep learning, ask questions, and understand our history so we don’t repeat the parts that didn’t serve us well.

My inbox is always open, and my phone is always on. Don’t hesitate to reach out, I’ll do my best to answer your question or connect you with the teammate who can.

Cheers to 2026.

Jes
