August 2025 Recap Planning & Board Notes

August 11 – Board Meeting
The Board approved an ordinance amendment allowing self-storage doors to face the roadside. This recommendation came from the Planning Commission, and I supported it. The ordinance that was changed really only applied to self-storage facilities, and in exchange, we eliminated outdoor storage at that location.

August 12 – Planning Commission Meeting
At this meeting, we reviewed suggested ordinance changes to make them easier to understand and more user-friendly, while also considering modifications that make sense moving forward.

August 28 – Board Meeting

  • Our Clerk secured a $10,000 grant for a sliding glass door. He explained how this will benefit operations in many ways. About $7,000 of Township funds will be added to complete the project.

  • We also made a minor amendment to the Bella Woods agreement.

What’s Next?
The September 8 Board Meeting will include one of the most important votes I’ve faced so far—regarding the Balk Family Park Community Building.
